Our new Headteacher – the search is on…
We are pleased to formally launch the search for a new Headteacher by advertising the position on the Kent-Teach microsite and the Guardian online.
Following the announcement in January that Mrs Hutchings would be retiring after 17 years as Headteacher, plans to search for a new Headteacher have been rapidly taking shape. We have adequate time to find a new Headteacher, but the process (including advertising nationally) can be time consuming, so we needed to start straight away.
The Governors (working with Kent County Council and the Diocese of Canterbury) are responsible for appointing a new Headteacher and, over the last month or so, a sub-committee of Governors has been busily working on this. As well as writing the job description (and all the other important documents to describe the role to potential applicants), we have been working with the children – they have been keen to help us out with the search in any way that they can.
Children from all year groups have been taking part in poster-drawing to advertise the role of Headteacher, having their pictures taken doing some of their favourite things at school and even playing star roles in a video that has been produced. The video is intended to show potential applicants a selection of the things that are great about Tunstall including the children, the facilities, the church/community and the local area. Everyone is very proud of their school community and we wanted to ensure that this message is clear to potential applicants when they apply. To view the Tunstall video, please visit the YouTube page here – we hope you agree, that Tunstall is a great place for children to learn and for staff to work!
We would like to thank all the staff and children (who have worked extremely hard so far) and a special thanks to Mr Wilde for volunteering to produce the video.
The recruitment process will continue over the coming months and we will keep you updated with any important milestones. To see how we are describing the school and the role, please visit the Tunstall Microsite here. Please feel free to pass the link on to anyone who you think may be interested in applying for the role of Headteacher.
If you wish to share any comments about the recruitment process with the Governors, please contact us via the school office or directly.
