If you’re going to bail while giving it some air …
Week beginning 26th February
The Winter Olympics may be over, but we have our own taste of an extreme sport this week, and if the weather forecast is to be believed, it could be carried out in snow and ice. We have arranged skateboarding workshops for the whole school, in order to engage children in different ways to keep active. Our session is on Thursday afternoon, but don’t worry, if you are going to bail while giving it some air, all the safety equipment is supplied. What isn’t supplied though, is warm clothing, so please make sure your child is suitably wrapped up.
In our English learning, we continue to track the life of Jim Jarvis in Berlie Doherty’s novel, Street Child, especially looking at the vocabulary used and developing an understanding of how to portray the changing emotions throughout the book. Thank you to those who have tracked down a copy of the book and are reading along with us in class.
Our maths learning continues with multiplication and re-introduces division, using more compact, and dare I say ‘traditional’, methods. After our introduction to electricity last week, including recognising the associated dangers, we start this week to make our own circuits.
Crime and punishment moves onto Anglo Saxon times this week while in RE, we are again looking at ways to understand what the washing of the disciples’ feet means to Christians.
Despite the reminders, there were still children with no, or the incorrect kit for our PE lessons last week. As a reminder, our PE this week comes in three parts, cricket on a Tuesday afternoon, skateboarding on Thursday afternoon and dance or swimming on a Friday afternoon. The Tuesday and Thursday session will be outside, unless it is excessively wet, so warm clothing is essential, especially looking at the weather forecast for this week. Please help to keep you child organised and reduce the amount of wasted learning time, contact book notes and ‘phone calls home.
Congratulations to Sam, who received our behaviour award last week.
