This week we will be reading 'The Jolly Postman' by Janet and Allen Ahlberg.
The Jolly Postman keeps forgetting where to go so we will be making him his own map based on where he goes in the story. We will be writing a letter to him to tell him about our maps. We are also going to be looking at 2D shapes and making characters from the story using shapes. We will be working on naming the shapes and also describing them (e.g. how many sides and corners they have, whether they have straight or curved sides, what they look similar to etc.).
In Phonics we will be learning the sounds b, f and l. We will also be introducing digraphs to the children (two letters which go together to make one sound). The digraphs that we will be covering are ff, ll and ss. We will also be doing a new tricky word this week which is 'to'.
Nativity practise is now in full swing so look out for lines being sent home for your children to learn. Costumes will all be provided by the school so please don't worry about this!
We look forward to another great week in Red Class!
