Week beginning 30th October
The start of a new term brings lots of new topics, while our maths and English learning for this week, continues along the same themes as before.
For our English this week, we take a visit to the Roman baths, to help us with writing an explanation text. Please pack your children up with a towel on Tuesday, so they get the very best experience! Maths continues with addition and subtraction, using and mastering formal written methods. While we are keeping the status quo, it’s also the same group for swimming this week.
Replacing history and art this term are geography and DT. In geography, we will be investigating coasts, while in DT, we embark on the food tec. part of this subject, designing (and making) a healthy lunchtime snack. More of that in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, please make sure you return the consent slip before 6th November.
Please remember that our Tuesday PE session is outside, so please ensure that your child has a jumper and joggers to guard against the very strong winds that whip across the playground. Hockey is our focus this term, so shin pads and gum shields are also recommended.
We did have several incidents of incomplete PE kit last term, mostly due to those do not bring back the kit after attending school clubs. Can I suggest that PE kits remain in school, and a separate one brought for after school clubs?
Dates for your diary this term include:
Thursday 16th November – Staff development day. No children in school.
Friday 17th November – New swimming group and Children in Need.
Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th November – Consultation evenings.
Wednesday 6th December – PTA Christmas Bazaar.
Tuesday 12th December – Pantomime at Canterbury.
Tuesday 19th December – Choral Christmas performances.
Wednesday 20th December – Last day of term.
Finally, thank you to all who were able to attend our Harvest Celebration and a special thank you to Jack’s nan, who baked a (now traditional) harvest loaf which was shared and enjoyed by all the class.
