Week beginning 18th September
Firstly, thank you for your help in organising the children, making sure that they have the right things at the right time. On a similar note, could you please keep an eye on the expected weather, as it is very changeable at the moment, and dress your child accordingly. As you know, we are trying to instil good routines in class, which will enable the children to maximise their learning time.
This week, we will write our own historical adventure story, based on the book, Escape from Pompeii by Christina Balit, which we looked at last week. The children seem to have enjoyed the history behind it, which we hope forms a good inspiration for their own writing. In Maths, we move on to using our place value knowledge to add and subtract.
Science started last week and we hope the children have shared with you some of the new words they have learnt, hopefully not at the dinner table though! This week we will look at the journey of food through our body.
Home learning this week includes both a maths task and an English task, which should be returned by Friday.
Spellings will start this week on the same basis as last term, with the children being split between the four adults in Lower Key Stage 2. I cannot access the new class on Mathletics yet, but as soon as I can, I will be setting tasks appropriate to our class learning.
Congratulations to Grace who received our behaviour award last week.
