This week we are going to be focusing on number.
We will start the week by looking at ordering numbers, giving the children loads of opportunities to show off how well they can order numbers to 20 (and sometimes beyond). We will then look at addition and subtraction, making sure everyone can use practical resources to add and take away two single digit numbers. We will end the week by looking at naming and describing 2D shapes.
In Early Morning Work we will be using our imaginations to design our own animals and using our fantastic phonics skills to describe them. We will encourage the children to answer questions such as: Where do they live? What do they eat? What do they do? Can you describe what they look like?
In Phonics we are continuing to practise applying our knowledge of all of the digraphs and trigraphs we have learnt. We are encouraging children to read and spell longer such as stops, trip, slept etc. It is easy to miss some of the middle sounds in these words so we will keep practising. Our Tricky Word this week will be 'like'.
As you know, our May Day performance is fast approaching so we will continue to practise this. We look forward to seeing lots of you there!
